Pentax 645 Lenses on Fuji GFX
I’ve recently purchased Fuji GFX as an entry into the medium format digital world. I’m not new to medium or large format film camera system, having used most of them in the past. I enjoyed Pentax 645 Nii when I owned it. The first camera I owned with “metadata” embedded onto the film.
Recently Fuji announced heavy discount on the their FUJI GFX R camera system. Probably a refresh is coming. I decided to buy it and thanks to WexPhoto received it in no time. I also bought GFX 50mm/3.5 which is a beautiful little (for MF) lens. However, other lenses are either very expensive or heavy. So as luck would have it, I found 3 brilliant Pentax 645 lenses with an adapter to attach it to Fuji GFX in a local shop. I’ve been playing with these lenses for the past few weeks. I got an oppotunity to do couple of TWTW walks this month. And it was a great opportunity for a field test. Thanks to Rob for recommending these lenses. Check out his work. He is one of the few who actually uses the equipment to produce quality work.
Here are my first raw impressions from Pentax 35mm, 75mm and 150mm. 75mm and 150mm are brilliant packages. 75mm was my go to lens during film days as well. Both are sharp, small and contrasty. 35mm is sharp and contrasty but not small. It also needs care while focusing. Here are few images. I will adding my thought over the next days, hopefully with some images as well.
