Crib Goch is a fantastic grade 1 scramble along a knife edge ridge in Snowdonia, Wales and one of the best scrambles in the United Kingdom. This route describes perhaps the longest and the hardest route however there are easier routes to snowdon. This is an extremely exposed scramble that should only be attempted with very good ability and a head for heights. It becomes even more challenging in the winter requiring ice axe, crampons and experience. In bad weather, it is extremely important to have excellent navigation skills.

Parking

Plenty of parking at Pen y Pass but very busy on holidays and weekends. Laybys close to Pen y Gwyrd Hotel is an alternative. You can also use The Snowdon Sherpa bus. We parked near Cromlech Boulders for this outing. From here, this is probably the hardest and the longest route to Snowdon.

DIFFICULT BITS

You should choose the route that you’re comfortable with – be that “walking” on the apex of the arete or just off to the left and using it as a handrail. I often combine both based on the conditions and the day.

Please watch this video for the detailed walk and challenges.
